The Magic of Music Wire
The Magic of
Music Wire
Strung with actual musical grade wire, the Piano Wire screen (sometimes also referred to as a Harp Wire screen) comes by its name honestly. Music wire’s lively vibrational properties and the straight parallel wire orientation, exert a unique cutting action on the material being screened, making it the only solution for clumpy, sticky, fine, cubical materials like damp sand, or top soil. And, with the highest percentage of open area of any screen on the market, Piano Wire can outproduce long-slot woven by a factor of 5X!

Screen Configuration
Tips
Maximize open area & screening productivity, while balancing sizing requirements & wear life goals – by understanding the benefits and trade-offs of each screen configuration option.
Wire
Thickness
Balance your wear life and production goals by choosing the thinnest wire your material will allow.
Wire Type
Premium Music Wire
WHEN TO USE:
Screening heavy and/or abrasive material in dry conditions – Premium Music Wire has greater impact and abrasion resistance than Stainless Steel Wire
WHEN NOT TO USE:
Screening corrosive or sticky materials – Music Wire will eventually pit and rust, compromising wear life and material thru-put
Vs.
304 Stainless Steel
WHEN TO USE:
Screening corrosive or sticky materials – Stainless Steel’s smooth non-rusting surface makes it ideal for wet, sticky, and corrosive environments, extending wear life and material thru-put
WHEN NOT TO USE:
Screening heavy and/or abrasive material in dry conditions – Music Wire has greater impact and abrasion resistance than Stainless Steel Wire
Profiles
When choosing a profile to fit your machine’s crown bars, it is important to know when crown bar rubber must be used underneath profiles to cushion screen wires. Metal to metal contact between screen wires and crown bars must be prevented to avoid wire breakage.
Round Profile
✓ Use Crown Bar Rubber
No built-in cushioning
Square Profile
✗ Do Not Use Crown Bar Rubber
Built-in cushioning
Crowned Round Profile
✓ Use Crown Bar Rubber when installed over Square Crown Bars
✗ Do Not Use Crown Bar Rubber when installed over Round Crown Bars
